wouldn't you Anet have to send all character data and everything to people's PCs to play offline? anywho i'd rather they just close GW down, it'd be nice to go and see the old places every now and then but maybe we'll get something similar to the BMP that shows us old areas.
anyway if they do shut down the servers i hope they tell everyone a month or two in advance, so people could finish up everything they started.

the active player count in gw1 will probably stay about the same until gw2 is released. then it will increase, because many people want to achieve the titles in order to get their hands on the cosmetic stuff. noobs (no offense) to the gw universe will probably buy gw2 and gw1 in bundles to get the stuff too.
imo, one year after the release of gw2, gw1 will be abandoned but die with gw2.

I dunno Aljasha I wouldn't want to spend my time in an old game just for a few early game trinkets in GW2 when I could be experiencing along to get to the good more favored items of GW2. Newness takes over 99.9% of the time and I'd wager everyone will just want to get to the end game stuff of GW2 instead of going back and playing old content in GW1.

And the quote is ...
"Who says PvE is balanced? Not I.", posted 6th August 2009.
PvE is not now, never has been, and is NOT designed to be balanced. Get over it, move on.

That quote by Linsey doesn't say if Anet is for or against PvE balance. It just says they're more concerned about area abuse with the discussion above. Get over it because saying get over makes my view better supported.

Was a responce to the following sentance:

If anet think that perma invincibility need to stay, it means they think that pve is not balanced. But they will tell you that pve is balanced.

I understand when there's a lil misunderstanding but damn...What is it with people taking what Anet say completely out of context or as gospel.

and if so, knowing that the game doesn't even start without a running internet connection , wouldn't you like to have the option of being able to still run around the game offline ? One can finish the main story line alone . I would love to know if they can make the game to run offline and give you the feel that regardless of its nature , you still own the game years after the servers went down. I mean its still a game that we love. And as it is , at least for me not knowing much of an usual mmo's last years behavior its still something that you can't keep on a shelf.

Of course! Did you expect anything less than that? We're all going to buy GW2 despite all the broken promises and let-downs, and we're going to like it, because if GW2 is anything like GW1 in the addictive aspect, we're all going to be hooked no matter what we say or do. ..and Anet will probably continue offering up insignificant trinkets on their online store to make even more money because they know we'll buy into everything they lay in front of us. History will eventually repeat itself a few years after GW2's release with let-downs and such, too.. ..but hey! ..it's okay because Anet'll probably have GW3 in the works at that point.

Ah, that's what Morphy meant by trolling in his brief pink appearances along the thread - i really thought he was just farting around - me saying that everyone from gw1 will move on to gw2. If you have a problem with that just read it " everyone from gw1 will end up doing something else " because that was the point.
Sorry for telling you to go kick yourself in the nuts Morphy, i know have been a leettle mean to you . Also you are off my ignore list now. Rejoice!

Once in a while I play a level of Descent, but that's only 15 years old, there's a Lode Runner clone that I haven't tried yet and the Elite clone I installed has seen less then 5 hours of gameplay.
I predict that 10 years from now, probably less, you'll not be interested in playing Guild Wars anymore.

Some of the best games ever made were made early on. They don't need to have great graphics to have a great story. I still occasionally go back and play the Space Quest/ King's quest games, or some of the early wing commander games and even a few others that are still fun to play. I know there are plenty of people who do the same thing, otherwise DosBox wouldn't exist

If I prefer and invested time/effort in x profession, I should be allowed to get to point b with people or be able to do something as well. Obvious.

mesmers aren't meant to be an imba pve class, they're better suited for pvp, if for some arbitrary reason you want to play mes in pve, deal with its shortcomings. Simple.

That isn't a reason to not have balance. People don't want to be forced into a profession they don't have or want in order to be useful. Deal with it. Simple.

so for some arbitrary reason you play a class just because you want to, despite it being ineffective for pve. it's your own fault, get over it kiddo.

Well don't include me in this blanket statement. So who buried GW? EQ is still going strong after all these years and it has a sub. When GW2 comes out I plan on doing both. But poor Aion turned out to be so sad that I'm a bit concerned about what GW2 will be like. Either way I haven't seen GW in the obits lately lol

Everyone planning on continuing on playing an MMORPG will obviously buy GW2 because GW will die they will throw you holiday events and updates every now and then but all attention will be focused on GW2. And most of the better players will swap over too. Eventually people will just get bored of GW1 and quit, and when the numbers drop low, ANet will redivert the servers to host GW2 clients and GW will die.

Guild Wars is a game. I make myself very effective for PvE regardless of profession. However not everyone is able to so you'd obviously want balance so um...obvious. Apparently you want the game to be some sort of grind for the newest craze of the month activity.
Stop trying to save face.

Who is forcing who into playing what profession? Every profession is capable of completing the game AND solo farming regardless of what idiots do or say. Who told you this?

No specific person and you know exactly what is being discussed in that quote. I don't farm often and I do more in PvE than beat the game. You're more than likely viewing your own play style as the norm for every player?

I am hardly viewing my own play style as the "norm" for all players. I just frown upon any other playstyle than mine because I'm an ignorant fanboy.
